When you die you’ll go on a journey to the afterlife, in this story we’re calling it the Beyond. It doesn’t matter who you are or how you died, we all end up in the same place. It’s just a different experience for everyone. You’ll be confronted with yourself as a person; who you were, why you died and what you’d like to change. Something you regret in your lifetime, perhaps. If you remember any of it. When you arrive you’ll be welcomed by an Imp, who will be your personal guide through the dreamy Beyond. They’re small, friendly creature who will take you under their wing and follow you forever; everybody gets their very own Imp.
The Beyond is protected by many different creatures, they all have some kind of control over the Beyond. The Angels- also the Oracles of this world - have the most control. They hold the power and knowledge of the world and know every single deceased person and who they were.
The Imps, based on ghosts and Sugarskull candies, are small and colorful creatures that walk around in the Beyond among the deceased. This is Guntang, Hiroko's personal imp!

I wanted the Imp's to have a cute, but creepy look. I forced myself to think simple and design using simple forms.
Adriel is a well-known Angel, they’re the one that pick up the deceased from the world of the Living, they carry the dead to their new destiny and drop them off. Basically- they’re kind of a welcoming committee. They hold many answers.
As mentioned before, the Beyond carries many incredible and different creatures, one of them being Sky Weavers. They’re dreamy, floating dragon-like creatures. They’re messengers who bring announcements from the Oracles, and they also travel you around.
Hadraniel is one of the Oracles we meet later on in our story. Appearance-wise, for both him and Adriel I looked at creatures of the bible and their terryfing appearance. I wanted them to have have a mix of that and how I personally imagined Angels to be.
